Employed at Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Banjaluka as teaching assistant. In the Laboratory for Power Electronics and Drives at this Faculty he works at experimental verification of driving schemes for induction machines. 2 pole 1 HP induction machine copuled with DC generator is supplied by the three-phase inverter, and driven by dSpace TMS 1102 control board. Several experiments, such as Direct Vector Control, Minimization of Power Losses in Induction Machine Drive, Sensorless Drive and Direct Torque Control has been made to demonstrate the theoretical results in the practice.

A Novel Algorithm for Direct Torque and Flux Control of the Induction Machine Drive

In this thesis a novel direct torque algorithm is proposed for the control of the torque and flux of an induction motor, running both in the flux weakening and the constant torque modes. The algorithm is focused on getting a smooth and ripple - free response of the electromagnetic torque; reducing parameter dependence and the number of parameters required; preserving at the same time a certain simplicity and ease of implementation on most existing digital drive controllers. In principle, the proposed approach relies on intrinsic properties of an induction motor. Namely, generated torque is proportional to the square of the flux linkage and to the relative speed of the flux vector with respect to the rotor itself. Accelerating the flux rotation relative to the rotor contributes to the torque increase. In the algorithm, the flux vector angular advancement is divided in two parts: i) the angle increment ensuring steady - state rotation and ii) the angle increment corresponding to the flux acceleration. The later should be kept on the zero value if no torque changes are required. Positive and negative values of the later angular component correspond to the torque increment or decrement, respectively. Besides tangential component of the flux linkage increment, the radial component is asserted as well, aiming to the flux amplitude control and adjustments according to the operating speed and load. In the paper, the algorithm for the calculation of desired flux increments according to desired torque changes is explained in detail, as well as the implementation aspects related to the voltage command calculation. Presented results are supported by the simulation results and experimental results.
